As the design team at Kia's European HQ in Frankfurt work their nights out under the directions of Kia design guru?Peter Schreyer, their combined efforts come transformed into the next generation through the Kia Optima that will stand proudly at the at the upcoming 2010 New York Auto Show. Sporting Kia 's new design language that will influence all future models from the Korean company, the 2011 Kia Optima (or in other markets known the Magentis) has been unveiled ahead of its world premiere. The new Magentis is longer, lower and wider than the Mondeo, Insignia or Passat. Staying pretty close, but less aggressive than its previous concept sketches, the car features Kia 's "tiger" front-end design with a flat nose and large grille, along with fashionable LED lights on the bumper. The mechanical details still remain under cover, however having been based on the same platform as the newly released Sonata from Kia's sister company Hyundai, we can expect a 2.4-liter, 4-cylinder engine with 198-hp and six-speed transmission with turbocharged and hybrid variants?to follow.

The new car is expected to go on sale in UK next year.
