2011 Acura TSX Sport Wagon to Debut at New York Auto Show

(March 9, 2010 )

With many prominent auto shows lined back to back, the Geneva Motor Show shall now gradually give way to the New York Auto Show. The 2011 Acura TSX Sport Wagon is scheduled to debut at the New York Auto Show, due to be unveiled on 31st March.

The predecessor to the TSX Sport Wagon, Acura ZDX, was slightly better looking than the Honda Accord Euro Tourer, a car much criticized for its bland looks. The TSX Sport Wagon promises to be better on this account, in spite of retaining the bionic beaver-tooth grille that has now become common to most Acuras.

It was known back in October that Acura is planning to produce the TSX Sport Wagon, which would predictably share much of its build with the Honda Accord Euro Tourer (picture given below). Although not much information has been revealed by Acura on this new car, it is expected to come with four- and six-cylinder powerplants. The Sport Wagon will “offer a new solution to modern utility needs with its balanced and efficient performance coupled with bold styling and versatile cargo capabilities,” says the company.

Reviews for the 2010 Acura TSX have largely been positive. One review has reported that the car offers? more features than entry-level sedans, and the V-6 engine makes up for its former lack of power. In spite of that, some improvements in styling, build quality and performance would put the car in the upper strata of the category. The Sport Wagon version is expected to follow the same path, with the extra feature of a larger rear cargo area. Hopefully, the Sport Wagon shall be a better vehicle than its sedan counterpart.

The car is scheduled to go on sale this fall. No images have been unveiled yet.
