Next Flagship Cadillac Beyond XTS likely to arrive on CTS¡¯s Sigma Platform

The exact technical specifications and other details of the new proposed Sigma-based luxury Cadillac are yet to be revealed ¨C and it may not take more than a year to hear more about it; however, the new car will definitely be extremely spacious with a rear-drive setup. Point in note – GM¡¯s much hyped-up Cadillac XTS is offered only in front or all-wheel drive options. A slew of other technological advancements and auto-design principles are also slated to arrive well before actually moving for the proposed flagship.

Even though a top-of-the-line Cadillac XTS luxury sedan is slated to be launched within the next few years, the auto giant is working itself towards a big project ¨C a flagship Cadillac beyond CTS or XTS. If you are a Cadillac fan, you now have some reason to rejoice! Apparently, none other than GM CEO, Ed Whitacre, has instructed the brand to materialize such a big project.

According to a several media reports, General Motors is now actively considering abandoning its cherished Zeta platform. The platform is not only dated but heavy too. After having the likes of the Chevrolet Camaro and Holden Commodore on the road using the Zeta platform, GM is now planning to build its next flagship Cadillac on CTS¡¯s Sigma platform.

While nothing concrete can be envisaged now for the imaginary Sigma-based flagship Cadillac, Ed Whitacre’s announcement will fuel a new speculation in the auto industry forcing people finding more innovative ways to counter GM¡¯s way!
