Ford Motor Company has unveiled its new Ford Start Concept at the 2010 Beijing Motor Show. What makes the car special is that it is the Dearborn makerâs?first concept car in more than three years.
Power is derived from the fuel-efficient 1.0-liter three-cylinder EcoBoost engine and uses advanced turbocharging together with spark-ignited, direct injection fuel management systems to offer the power of a naturally aspirated 1.4 liter unit. Mated to a six speed manual transmission, it is expected to emit under 100 grams of CO2 per km. The exact output figures have not been revealed by the company so far..
Created by designers at Ford’s Irvine (Calif.) Strategic Concepts Group Studios, the Ford Start Concept carries a ?lightweight composite body panels (made from deformable, pre-colored composites) that gel perfectly on an aluminum and steel body structure and the innovative interior. Also featured are slim and laser-cut LED headlamps as well as two other sets of running lamps.

The Ford Start conceptalso comes with the latest connectivity technology as well as “fun to drive” vehicle dynamics. It introduces My Ford Mobile that relies on smartphones to provide much of the functionality provided by My Ford Touch thus getting rid of the need to install all the extra hardware. FoMoCo says that the new minicar has been designed to cater to a new global trend for ultra-compact cars for mass?urbanization.
