BMW Gran Coupe Concept To get 6-Series Badging

Scheduled to go on sales in 2012, BMW¡¯s new luxury offering will compete against the likes of Maserati Quattroporte, Audi A7 and Porsche Panamera. It will be interesting to see how Gran Coupe differs from the regular 6-Series coupe. But with a longer wheelbase and all reworked design that looks more sportier yet impressive, the Gran Coupe will surely refine and concentrate BMW¡¯s design values.

BMW¡¯s chief of sales and marketing, Ian Robertson, confirmed that the conceptCS-inspired Gran Coupe Concept?will wear the 6 series badge but will be based on the same platform underpinning the current 5-series, 7-series and 5 GT.?Hence the powertrain options will more or less be similar to these cars that include six- and eight-cylinder petrol and diesel engines and an eight-speed automatic gearbox. BMW Gran Coupe will be offered in both hard and soft top versions.

The BMW Gran Coupe concept that was unveiled at the 2010 Beijing Motor Show will enter into production sometime in 2012, we all know that. Now according to the new reports on the web, the four-door, coupe-like saloon?will carry a 6-Series badge and will go into production in the second quarter of 2012.
