Main pageVolkswagen has unveiled the third-generation version of the?the Vw Sharan at the Geneva Motor Show a day after its details leaked onto the web.? The German firm’s seven-seater MPV has been thoroughly updated, and?that also includes its increased size.
Talking about its measurements, the all new VW Sharan now gauges 4.85 metres in length, 1.9 m in width but has been lowered to 1.72 m. The wheelbase has also grown by 75 mm to 2.92 m thus improving the interior space, both for passengers and luggage. The seating system is referred to by Volkswagen as EasyFold. The center row individual seats can be moved by up to 160 mm back and forth and tilted by 20 degrees. These along with the third row seats can be folded to create a flat space when needed. Sharan provides a rear sliding door to make the rear access easier. The boot offers a minimum capacity of to 711 liters and a maximum of 2,297 liters with the last two rows of seats folded.
The refurbished powertrain boasts of four direct injection turbo petrol (TSI) and turbo diesel (TDI) engines. The petrol units include 110 kW (150 PS) TSI motor, followed by a 147 kW (200 PS) version. The the 2.0-liter TDIs deliver 103 kW (140 PS) and 125 kW (170 PS) each respectively. According to Volkswagen, the 103 kW TDI averages 5.5 litres per 100 km (51.4 mpg) and returns 145 g/km of C02 emissions from its 70 litre fuel tank.
Reflecting the company’s new design philosophy, the new Sharan features gloss black bars across the radiator grille, integrated chrome clips and a chrome VW logo. Also available as options are the bi-xenon lights that will come along with LED daytime running lights.
The all-new VW Sharan will be available in the European market from this month with a full market launch in the summer.
