Geneva 2010: Citroen Reveals the DS High Rider Concept

The DS High Rider Concept will be a potential rival of the Nissan Juke and Mini Countryman as it gets into production. The four-seater High Rider is a part hatchback based on the C4 hatchback that is transformed into a premium three-door crossover with two more doors to be fitted in the production phase. The designing cues however match its smaller DS3 sibling namely, the grille, headlights, bonnet sculpting and badging with some drawing influence from the 2005 C-SportLounge concept. The combination gives the High Rider a more muscular shape, elevated ride height with more spacious interior with Citroen defining its crossover design as “nimble and neat.”

We've already seen Citroen's Survolt sports car concept at the Geneva Motor Show and we also know that it wasn't the only vehicle that proudly stood wearing a DS badge. Placed adjacently was the DS High Rider Concept that previews the forthcoming DS4 crossover expected to be launched in early 2011.

Under the bonnet hides a PSA Peugeot-Citroen group’s full diesel hybrid system that features a HDi diesel engine coupled to an electric motor on the rear axle. High Rider is effectively an all-wheel-drive car with the diesel engine powering the front wheels. The output and performance figures still remain undercover.
