When Aston Martin first announced its partnership with Toyota almost a year ago, many experts were cynical as to whether this odd partnership would produce any real results or not. With Aston martin finally unveiling the Cygnet concept at the Geneva Motor Show, it seems like they are going ahead with the production of this car.
“Many of our customers have a need for a small car for urban and city use,” says Aston Martin Chief Executive, Dr. Ulrich Bez, “The Cygnet Concept brings intelligence, innovation and artistry to the small car market. The Cygnet Concept represents the natural choice for those customers looking for a premium commuter car.”
The Cygnet luxury mini car concept, a product of the marriage of the two automobile brands, is a current project at Aston Martin’s, and is expected to be a production reality towards the end of this year, or early next year. Aston Martin claims that many of its traditional customers (people who normally buy DBS and other such V12 giants) have sought a city car whose driving experience doesn’t feel altogether different from the other expensive machines.
The Cygnet is modeled after the Toyota IQ, and is 3 meters long. Would-be customers can have a personal customization of the car to suit their individual tastes. The interior shall consist of Alcantara, hand-stiched leather and an aluminum blended finish.
More specifications on the car are yet to be released. Officials report that although the Cygnet concept shall find plenty of environment-conscious buyers, Aston Martin shall stick to its core business.
