Hyundai's first hybrid for the U.S. market, the 2011 Hyundai Sonata Hybrid, has finally been unveiled at the New York Auto Show. Sharing the stage with the Sonata 2.0T, the hybrid features a sophisticated powertrain and expected price that its rivals, the Ford Fusion Hybrid and? Hiding under the hood a 2.4-liter inline-four cylinder engine that runs on an optimized Atkinson cycle, the hybrid receives 169 hp at 6,000 rpm and 156 lb-ft of torque at 4,500 rpm.? Mated ?to a 6-speed automatic transmission and a 30 kW (151 lb-ft) electric motor, the combined output sums up to 209 horsepower at 6,000 rpm, exceeding all mid-size competitors, and 195 lb-ft of torque.?The Sonata Hybrid delivers 37 mpg city and 39 mpg highway and can sprint to 62 mph in pure electric mode.
